An integral part of VBJI's mission of ending human trafficking in Hampton Roads is to provide victims with the resources they need as they seek healing, restoration, and a new beginning. In order to do that, we have a team of victim advocates who have completed intensive training, background checks, psychological evaluations and panel interviews to prepare to work one-on-one with individuals who are removed from, or who seek to leave the commercial sex industry.
We launched our first course in the Spring of 2014 and we are excited to be preparing to hold our ninth Victim Advocacy Training Course in the Spring of 2019! Registration is not currently open. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested in participating in a future Advocacy Training.
This 40-hour advocacy training is for those who desire to work directly with victims of trafficking. It will consist of a combination of presentations by local experts, multi-media presentations, & role playing. While the class is open to all, those wishing to serve as victim advocates with VBJI will need to successfully complete the class, as well as a psychological evaluation, background check, and interview. The full schedule for Fall 2018 is listed below. Please note that registration for Advocacy Training is a commitment to the entirety of the schedule. Class schedules may change with future training sessions based on the availability of instructors and changes to content. Please email us with any questions.
